How to stream Berlin season one online from anywhere

stream Berlin season 1

On December 29, all eight episodes of Berlin arrived on Netflix. The series will focus on the character of the same name from Money Heist (La casa del papel in Spain). However, other than a few familiar faces, Berlin will feature an entirely new cast and story. We’ll show you how to watch the whole series online, even if you’re abroad.

Don’t be tempted to watch Berlin via unofficial streams. These tend to be lower quality and may not even be in your preferred language. Further, they can be taken down at any moment for copyright violation. Berlin streams on the same platform in dozens of countries, so it’s actually easier to watch legitimately than waste time on third-party sites.

Berlin will stream in most of the world, but not everywhere. If you’re visiting a country where Netflix isn’t available, you’ll need a Virtual Private Network (VPN).

How to stream Berlin online from abroad

It’s surprisingly easy to watch Berlin online, even if you’re traveling. Just follow these steps and you’ll be able to stream all of the action, wherever you go:

  1. Start by deciding which VPN you’d like to use. We recommend NordVPN but Surfshark and ExpressVPN are two speedy alternatives that also work well with Netflix.
  2. Install the VPN app onto whichever device you use for streaming.
  3. Clear the Netflix app’s saved data or clear your cookies and cache if you normally watch via the Netflix website. This forces Netflix to forget your old location, which helps prevent problems in the next steps.
  4. Log into Netflix. For some reason, Netflix shows an incorrect login error if you do this after connecting to the VPN, so it’s important to perform this step now.
  5. Open up your VPN and pick a server in your home country. This will change your IP address and stop Netflix from realizing that you’re somewhere else.
  6. Go back to Netflix and reload the page. Berlin should appear in searches and play without any issues. If you’re having problems, contact your VPN’s support team for one-on-one assistance.

Which Netflix libraries include Berlin season one?

Generally, Netflix Original shows are included in every regional catalog. However, this isn’t guaranteed to be the case. Every country has different rules on what can and can’t be shown on TV. Still, it’s likely that Berlin will be available everywhere that Money Heist is.

At the time of writing, there are at least three dozen Netflix libraries that let you stream Money Heist. These include Netflix USA, Netflix UK, Australia, Japan, Mexico, France, Spain, and India.

Unfortunately, Netflix doesn’t offer free trials anymore. It does offer a lower-cost, ad-supported plan in a handful of countries, but generally, you can expect to pay around $12 USD, €10.99 EUR, or £7.99 per month for a standard subscription. You could also try asking friends and family nicely to see if anyone’s willing to share their Netflix password with you.

Do I need to have seen Money Heist to understand Berlin?

Not really. Berlin will be a prequel, focusing on one character’s life well before the events of Money Heist. There may be winks to the original series, but nothing that’ll confuse new viewers.

As the official trailer shows, we’ll be getting a closer look at Berlin (played by Pedro Alonso) during his glory days. The plot is simple: the master thief assembles a crack team with the goal of ripping off one of Paris’ most prestigious auction houses. Things go off the rails when Berlin falls in love with the auction house director’s wife.

Where do I begin with Money Heist?

In theory, this is a simple question with a simple answer: watch Money Heist and Berlin in whatever order you like. Chronologically, Berlin comes first, but it won’t spoil anything for you, since it’s a prequel.

The problem is that there are effectively three versions of the main series. First off, there’s the original version, La casa del papel. This is 15 episodes long and only available in Spanish.

Then, there’s Netflix’s version – Money Heist, which added an English dub and broke the series up into 22 shorter episodes. Finally, there’s Money Heist Korea, which is a retelling of Money Heist, but with a Korean cast, Korean audio, and a handful of localization changes.

Ultimately, it really doesn’t matter which version of Money Heist you choose but there’s not much point in watching all of them unless you’re really interested in the show.

Who stars in Berlin?

Naturally, Pedro Alonso will be reprising his role as Berlin, but one character alone doesn’t make a show! Luckily, this Money Heist prequel boasts a roster of well-known actors; here are just a few of the main cast:

  • Pedro Alonso (Bajo Sospecha) as Berlin
  • Tristán Ulloa (Warrior Nun) as Damián
  • Michelle Jenner (Tenemos que hablar) as Keila
  • Begoña Vargas (Bienvenidos a Edén) as Cameron
  • Julio Peña Fernández (BIA) as Roi
